Action line 81016 - Energy waste

INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey --  Complaint: 

I am really concerned about all the lights I see left on in empty houses. In phase one of the renovations there is a bedroom light that has been on since June 07 since the occupants moved out, that is 17 months and I walked through there the other night and there are 6 more lights on that I could see. This happens all over housing when houses are empty, I thought we were being urged to be more energy conscious, this is just a criminal waste of money that could be spent elsewhere and energy.

I appreciate your concern about energy usage in housing units. The Air Force is leading efforts to use our nation's energy more efficiently, and this requires buy-in from every member of the total force--every Airman, dependent, civilian and contractor.
I will remind our contractors of the importance of this issue; they are responsible for taking care of this. I appreciate your concern and request if you see lights on in an empty house, please call 676-7008 24-hours a day, and we'll fix it.
