The 728 AMS put up a fight, keeping spectator's eyes glued to the field during a series of interceptions that eventually led to the Defender's victory. "This was a very fast paced game," said Jason Klotz, 39 SFS Defender. "There was one interception after another." The Defenders won the coin toss, chose to receive the ball and after a series of failed passing attempts, turned the ball over to the 728 AMS. While on offense, Shaun Nakhost, 728 AMS, ran the ball into the end zone and was able to score a touchdown in the first quarter. The Defenders returned the favor in the second quarter when quarterback and team coach, Chris Smith, threw a 40-yard pass to Kevin Thompson tying the game until they acquired the point conversion a few minutes later. The beginning of the third quarter started off strong for the 728 AMS when Cross intercepted the ball and put the 728 AMS in position to score. Before the 728 AMS was able to clinch the lead, David Helmbrecht intercepted a pass, putting the Defenders in scoring position at the 20 yard-line. The Defenders didn't get far because the728 AMS intercepted and downed the ball, acquiring a touchback, giving them 20 less yards to fight the Defenders for a touchdown. However, 20 yards from victory, Defender's Helmbrecht, intercepted their attempt and after it was all said and done, the Defenders walked away with a one point victory. "The team did a great job anticipating the opposing team's positions," said Smith. "We intercepted several passes which gave us the upper hand. We took an offensive posture, and we played to the best of our ability and won."
