Complaint:

To lessen the inconvenience of people on base, how come base-wide power outages can't happen during the night on weekends? I have been at other bases that did this and it seemed to worked out alright.

Response:

Thank you for allowing me to address this question. I understand that power outages during the weekend day are not ideal, but compared to night, they are much safer. Performing high voltage maintenance and inspections in reduced lighting (nighttime) not only is less effective, but more importantly, it puts our electric linemen at unnecessary risk. Therefore, unless an emergency arises and a nighttime response is required, we will continue with safety first and keep our power outages scheduled during daylight hours.

For what it's worth, we did a random sample of two other USAFE bases and both Ramstein and Lakenheath do the same as us, during the day.

I appreciate your inquiry.
