Action line 90303 - Awaiting orders Published March 19, 2009 By Anonymous 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- Complaint: My husband and I PCS in less than a month. My husband received his assignment in November. When he received the paperwork for his assignment, we did our best to assemble what was needed from us, from weighing our dogs, and their kennels, to requesting a sponsor and filling out all of the proper documentation. We waited patiently for orders. Knowing we were going to StorkNest Dec. 20, my husband called the person in charge of preparing our orders, several times regarding the status of our orders, as everyone else in his office had already gotten theirs from the same cycle, even though we had turned in our paperwork first. We continued to wait. After several calls to MPF it was explained to us that we were missing some items to our packet, and when my husband resubmitted those items to her, she discovered that she already had them from us. This delayed us packing out, due to the fact we would be in Landstuhl around the time we should have packed out, and will delay our HHG getting to our new duty station This continued well into January, and Feb. 6th we finally received a physical copies of our orders. One problem: Our newborn was not on the orders. My husband was told it was unnecessary for him to be on the orders. Try leaving Incirlik without your child on your orders, I did. Let me tell you: You cannot leave Incirlik without it. When my husband went back to the MPF asking about this, he was told the reason for the delay in the first place was we were going to have a baby, and they didn't want to cut orders for us twice. We still have orders without our son on them. We have been waiting on a medical clearance for well over a week and a half now (for a simple signature), and no one can tell us when to expect that. Our newborn was medically cleared when we left Landstuhl 4 1/2 weeks ago, and we were told that was sufficient, as he has only been seen by the pediatrician once here at Incirlik. I intended on leaving Incirlik early to see family in the states before heading to our new station, but that cannot happen due to the fact that our child now needs to be command sponsored, which we were told did not have to happen due to the short amount of time he would be here. I am confused as to why, when I asked all of the right questions before I even left to storknest more than months ago, made sure all of our ducks were in line, and yet as military dependants, both my son and I are restricted from leaving due to paperwork not being prepared properly. It would be nice to know when to expect the correct orders, or at least to let my husband and I know when to expect the paperwork to be wrapped up so that we can begin the next chapter in our lives. I know the military is not required to give us orders until we actually leave, but neither myself nor my husband, the military member, understand the delay, or the confusion. Response: Thank you for taking the time to bring your concerns to our attention and apologize for any miscommunication. Our goal is to ensure members receive their orders within 60 days of their departure. The MPS informed the member the child did not have to be on the orders to accomplish out processing actions such as household goods shipment and clearing beyanamme. This was understood as the child not having to be on the orders at all, when in actuality the child has to be on the orders to PCS. We will be much clearer in the future as to what actions cannot be accomplished without the additional dependent on the orders. Medical clearance is the last required item to process the amendment to add the child to orders and that is complete. The amendment was available to view and print on 17 March through the virtual MPF using the out processing link. We are continuing to improve our processes to ensure members are informed properly of all the requirements for out processing. If there is ever a time anyone feels they are not receiving the assistance they deserve or confused about a situation, please contact Capt Carina Harrison at 676-6196 and she will ensure all issues are resolved in a timely manner.
