Complaint:

I would like to thank the 39th Logistics Readiness Squadron transportation section for extending the base shuttle service to 6 p.m. and letting it run all through the day (7:00 a.m. to 6 p.m.). Now that It has extended hours and runs during lunch I can use it more and it has made getting around the base a lot easier.

Evidently, kudos also goes to the Teen Town Hall for getting this change made to the shuttle schedule. However, I just learned that this is only a two month-long test period. I sure hope that the new shuttle schedule stays and gets implemented long-term because it definitely helps out the Incirlik community whether they are newly assigned personnel waiting for their person vehicle, personnel that didn't bring a POV, students, or others who want to ride the base shuttle.

Response:

Thanks for taking time to highlight the revised base shuttle service.

Recent changes to times, route and stops were implemented as a result of inputs received from various organizations and commanders across the base. It's important for everyone to be mindful that the shuttle is predicated on ridership. Being one of the exemplary services provided by 39 LRS free-of-charge to passengers, there are obvious costs involved.

At an average $21 per hour (for operations and maintenance), we are monitoring ridership numbers weekly during this test phase to determine if future changes may be necessary. The shuttle is an excellent alternative to daily POV commuting, meeting official appointments, and light distribution delivery to offices throughout the base.

Please encourage others to take advantage of this valuable resource so that it can continue current operations. Should you have questions regarding the shuttle, contact 39 LRS vehicle operations at 676-3422 or 6489.
