Complaint:

Many of us on Adana and Tarsus St. are really disappointed that the main Falcon housing playground is closed -- and has been for three weeks.

This park is for all ages, not just a young child or baby park. No, we have no big all-age playground near. The playground near the Youth Center is run by a certain clique and our children are made to know they are not welcome. Thus, when is the main Falcon housing playground going to reopen? The sooner the better.

Response:

The contract to replace the sidewalks encircling Phantom and Falcon housing areas' playgrounds is ahead of schedule. Five playgrounds are complete and the contractor is working on the last two playgrounds, one in Falcon and one in Phantom. We expect these last two to be complete no later than Aug. 1. If the contractor stays ahead of schedule completion might be as early as May or June.

You will also see other completed improvements to our playgrounds in the near future. A project to install covered benches is underway and will add new covered benches at eleven playgrounds (eight in Phantom and three in Falcon). Three installations are almost complete and all eleven will be complete by April 15. The two playgrounds in Eagle phase II are now complete with the rubberized fall surface.

It is unsettling to hear that we may have some bullying in our community parks. We can only respond if the children responsible are identified in a timely manner. It is a pretty small base. I am sure if you talked with the parents of the kids who are bullying, it would stop. If not- let me know, and I will stop it. Don't accept this...help put an end to it!
