Complaint:

I was wondering if we could get a water purification system put in on base to fill up 19-liter or five gallons. I currently have four five-gallon jugs that I have had with me from base to base. I would like it if I could use them while I am here, instead of storing them away. I often see a white truck that delivers bottled water to houses and work. Can the base or AAFES put up a water filtration system up to fill five-gallon jugs it sits on the side of a wall and you put your water bottles on the stand underneath the spout and let it fill up. I want to say that I paid $2.50 in Guam for the same product.

I went to AAFES and asked the supervisor at customer service if they would be willing to have the self service for the water filter for 19 Liter or five-Gallon water jugs. He said that they already have a contract in place for home delivery only and AAFES would not be interested in supporting the idea of a water purification point for do-it-yourself.

Right now if you want a 19-liter water jug filled you are paying $5.50 a jug. You have to factor in the delivery service for the water.

I think we can save the military families some money and have one or two water filtration system dispensers on base for do it yourself and it should only cost $2.50 at the most. I want to say it is cheaper than that on Andersen Air Force Base, Guam located outside the Shoppette.

I just wanted to state that I do know that the water is potable on the base and is fine to drink.

I am just asking because a lot of people talk about it but never ask the question.

I do understand that the service that is in place is a nice service, because you order the bottles you need and they come up and pick up the empty ones and replace with full ones.

Response:

Thank you for taking the time to make the suggestion of a water kiosk here at Incirlik.

Your comments and suggestions are very important to us, as this provides us with the opportunity to better service the Incirlik community.

Although we (Army Air Force Exchange Service) do not currently have this type of program available here in Europe, I have forwarded your inquiry to the services directorate at our headquarters in Germany, and they are looking into the program and the feasibility of this type of service. I also contacted the general manager at the Guam exchange for additional information on their program, and they will be forwarding it to our headquarters for review.

As you already mentioned, we do offer a home delivery service of the five-gallon jugs of water through our vendor partner Nestle. In addition, I will also make them available to purchase at the Shoppette as an added convenience in the very near future.

If a kiosk program becomes available to us in the future, I will pursue it for our community.

I would also like to apologize for the response you received from our customer service. Any and all customer comments and suggestions are handled by management, and one should have been called.
We have since, re-trained our customer service personnel on this procedure.

Thank you again for your suggestion.
