Action Line #09504 -- CDC waiting list Published June 11, 2009 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- Complaint: My concern is with the CDC not having a numbered waiting list. I have contacted them on numerous occasions to check on the status of where I am on the list, and the answer that I'm always given is that "they cannot tell me where I am on the list, and that there is no availability at this time". Now, I understand that one day I may be number 2 on the list and drop down to number 5 the next day, if someone comes in and trumps me as far as category status is concerned, but I feel like I'm not told where I am on the list for other reasons and being given the run around. Response: Thank you for your comment. First let me say I am sorry to you felt that you were not being told where you were on the list for "other" reasons. The Child Development Center has always maintained an internal numbered waitlist. Patrons are prioritized according to the category of the sponsor and by the date of request. In the past, the CDC did not offered parents information on where they were on the waitlist due to the potential confusion it may cause. There has been, and will continue to be, a real possibility that an individual will move down the list as other patrons in a higher-priority category are added to the list. However, I am not convinced that we should continue with past practices simply for the reason that "that's the way we've always done it." Therefore in the future, the CDC will begin to provide parents with their position on the waitlist, but they will also explain that this position is tentative; it may change from week-to-week or possibly even day-to-day. Thank you for your suggestion, and we hope you are quickly off the waiting list and enjoying the services provided by the CDC.
