Action Line #90703 -- Cash Back at Shoppette Published July 8, 2009 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- Complaint: I was wondering if anything can be done about the cash-back issue at the Shoppette. When you use the debit machine to pay, it gives an option to receive cash back, but the employees always tell you that you can't have extra cash back. If it is not an option, why does the machine prompt it? I recently witnessed a situation while standing in line where a new person to Incirlik was paying with debit and pressed cash back and the employee gave him a really hard time and told him he should have asked first before pressing cash back. Most of us know that they won't give cash back, but obviously a new person would have no idea. The employee stated he does not usually have enough cash in his drawer to give extra cash back. Can the issue be resolved to where we can get extra cash back, maybe just up to $20, or change the prompts on the machine as to not confuse anyone in the future? Thank you. Response: Thank you for taking the time to notify me of this issue, first I've heard of this restriction. This is not the kind of customer service we should be providing our community. Receiving cash back on a debit transaction is a customer convenience that is now available at your Incirlik Shoppette. Looking further into the issue, there is a need to cap the amount of cash back one can take. There will now be a maximum cash back of $40 per transaction and we have posted signs that state this. This cap will allow everyone to take advantage of cash back. Thanks for raising this to our attention so we can better serve the Incirlik community!
