Action Line #90703 -- Internet Payments Published July 22, 2009 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- Complaint: I am writing because I am frustrated by the tactics of the ADSL office on base. It's frustrating enough that we pay two-to-three times the cost of comparable service off-base but what takes the cake is the ADSL office has the capability to process recurring credit card payments but will only offer the service if paying by Club Card. I understand there is incentive to own and even utilize the card; however, the payment is the same whether or not a Club Card is utilized, provided it is owned. With the surfeit of credit card debt throughout our population it is inexcusable to block access to a provided service for choosing a card that better fits your budget. If the incentive to utilize the Club Card for recurring charges is no service fee vs. a nominal cost for using a different card we could still keep the integrity of the incentive program without refusing available services. Response: Thank you for taking the time to raise to my attention an inconvenience with paying for private ADSL service. Currently the ADSL office only has the billing capabilities to process recurring charges through the club card system. This is the same system used to process club dues. All other forms of payment must be processed manually through other sources and we don't have the manpower for that. However, we are working on implementing a new billing system with hopes of having it in place by end of summer. This new system will permit the use of other credit cards so I think we are on our way to correcting the source of your frustrations. Please watch for details to come in the What's Happening publication. E-mails will also be sent to all ADSL subscribers. Thanks again for writing.
