Chief Master Sgt. Martin Taylor, the 728th Air Mobility Squadron air terminal manager, was honored for his 27-year Air Force career during a formal retirement ceremony July 24 in the 728th AMS cargo terminal.

As a member of the 728th AMS, Chief Taylor supported the squadron's mission of being responsible for all strategic, theater and contract commercial air mobility support in the Eastern Mediterranean region, including the operation of the primary aerial port for all transportation cargo and passengers entering and leaving Turkey.

He arrived at Incirlik Air Base last August after completing an assignment as the superintendent of the Air Force Expeditionary Center's Mobility School and Chief Air Transportation Branch at Fort Dix, N.J.

Chief Taylor has 11 assignments under his belt, including managing Air Mobility Command air transportation training programs and a three-year assignment as a military training instructor at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

"A point in my career that really stands out is being an MTI," the Chief said. "It was great to work with the new Airmen."

Chief Taylor joined the Air Force via basic training at Lackland in 1982. He has served his entire career in the air transportation career field except for his MTI assignment.

Some of Chief Taylor's notable achievements over his 27 years of service include being named the 15th Air Force's Transportation Senior Noncommissioned Officer of 2002 and receiving an Army Achievement Medal.

Chief Taylor said a lot has changed in the Air Force throughout his career.

"When I first joined the Air Force, we never really dealt with other branches all that much," the Chief said. "Now, we are a true joint force, and I think that's very needed in today's operations. It allows all branches to do their job better and smoothly."

Chief Taylor and his wife, who retired as a senior master sergeant in May, plan on relocating to Milton, Fla.
