Action Line #90713 -- BX Makeup Published Aug. 5, 2009 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- Complaint: I am an African -American female stationed on Incirlik AB. The BX does not sell make up for my skin tone. They do carry a line, Cover Girl, which manufactures makeup for all skin tones. However, the darker skin hues aren't available for sale here. I spoke to the store manager inquiring why they don't sell make up for my skin tone. A reason wasn't given to me by the manager on why they don't order any make up for African Americans/ or woman with darker skin complexion. Please let me know if there is a way to have these products for sale here. I am not the only African-American female on this base, and I'm sure there are others with the same issue. Response: Thanks for taking the time to raise this issue to our attention. Satisfying all our AAFES customers in regards to merchandise selection has always been a challenge, and assembling the right mix of products in the space we have available is an ongoing process that is analyzed continuously. Customer feedback is an important part of that process. AAFES is adding a new Cover Girl line of products which will help fill this void in their assortments. The supplier believes we should receive the "Queen" line of products in the BX by October. Thanks again for taking the time to comment, through feedback like this we can continue to better serve the community!
