Complaint:

Most squadrons start PT around 0645. Well for people that live in the dorms, sometimes PT runs a little long. So by the time you go to your room, shower and change, the dining facility is closed. Is it possible to change the dining facility hours or extend the breakfast hours by 30 minutes?

Response:

Thank you for writing and giving us the opportunity to discuss squadron PT hours versus the serving hours at the dining facility. Whenever possible, we do wish to offer services to maximize customer service. In fact, about one-and-a-half years ago the breakfast hours were extended to accommodate personnel after PT finished. Breakfast used to close at 0800 with lunch opening at 1030. At that time, we found most unit PT sessions ended by 0730 so we extended the hours until 0830 allowing 30 extra minutes of serving time at the breakfast meal.

After conducting a poll amongst our First Sergeants, we have determined that extending breakfast hours any further would have a greater negative impact on lunch meal preparations (food service personnel need adequate time to sanitize the dining facility in between meal periods and set up in order to open at 1100) than the community's desire to stay open for breakfast later. Balancing customer service hours with the workload is always a priority, and we hope that our customers will be able to make use of these hours in most cases barring any lengthy delays on PT days.
