Complaint:

I would like to say that I think the MDG extending their Clinic hours is wonderful! I have used their extended hour's clinic and was provided excellent care by the doctor and the technicians.

I do however have one concern. When being seen, I was put in the same room as someone else with a curtain as a barrier. As this might seem like we are separated, everything the patient is telling the doctor is being heard by the other person on the other side of that curtain. I don't want to hear what is wrong with the other patient nor do I want the other patient to know my problems. I understand this is a new process but there still should be patient privacy. Can you please shed some light on this?

Response:

You are absolutely correct in your assessment of the situation. We appreciate you bringing this oversight to our attention. I have already discussed it with my staff, reiterated proper patient placement procedures in Ambulance Services, and conducted HIPAA and Privacy Act refresher training. Patient Privacy needs to be protected at all times. We will do periodic checks in the future in Ambulance Services to guarantee our privacy standards are always maintained.
