Complaint:

I was inquiring if we could make 1st and D street two-way stop into a four-way stop. When you are coming from Bldg 833 to the stop line you cannot see to the right because of all the cars parked there from behind the new Comm. Squadron and you cannot see to the left because of the dumpster wall there. I think it is a big safety risk not knowing what or who is coming. So I was wondering if that can go back to being a four-way stop.

Response:

Thank you for the inquiry and sharing your concerns about the traffic at 1st Street and D Street. The intersection you referred to was evaluated by the 39th Civil Engineer Squadron Traffic Engineer. The construction of the new Consolidated Communications Facility resulted in frequent parking violations and additional traffic at that intersection. A temporary four-way stop sign was installed during the construction period to help with the additional foot traffic and work trucks operating in that area.

With the construction complete and the intersection restored to a two-way stop; parking on the corner of the intersection is not authorized. Our Security Forces have been alerted to enforce this no parking area, and a sign will be posted.

Regarding the line of sight to the left, there is indeed a dumpster wall. When it was constructed, the wall was set back from the street to ensure sufficient visibility for drivers to see oncoming traffic. I ask that you and all other drivers continue to take your time and be patient, making sure the 'coast is clear' before proceeding when driving around Incirlik.

Thank you for expressing your interest and for helping us to make things better.
