Synopsis: In order to avoid deportation back to Canada, an icy magazine editor proposes to her assistant that they get married so she can stay in the U.S. and he can progress his career. The two must meet his family in Alaska in order to prove to an immagration officer that their marriage is valid.

The Ice Queen
The Proposal: I Do

Sandra Bullock plays work-aholic boss Margaret Tate, hated by her entire staff, even her assistant Andrew Paxton played by Ryan Reynalds. However, when her Visa expires the tables are quickly turned and the two are forced to visit his family's home in Alaska to announce their engagement and prove to the government that their love is real. This romantic comedy combines good actors, a fun story and comedic moments that make you laugh so hard you cry.

This movie also gave new meaning to the use of office communicator's as Margaret's staff would use it to alert all about her comings and goings. I also enjoyed the scene with the cell phone, the puppy and the eagle. I don't think I can look at an eagle again without thinking of that scene and laughing hysterically.

The overall scene stealer in this movie though was certainly Betty White. Despite her age and how long she has been in the movie business I have to say she's still got it.

One last note for all the men out there: if you think this is a chick flick you are wrong. The movie theater had at least 8 men that I counted and though I am sure they were forced to go with their wives or girlfriends they left the theater laughing about certain scenes and saying that was way funnier than they ever imagined.

They call me Roy
Proposal Accepted

Let me preface this by saying that I am 100 percent man. I like action movies with copious amounts of gore and crude comedy. However, I guess 13 years of marriage has softened me up a little. I actually enjoyed this movie. I think Sandra Bullock is funny; and, as much as I hate to admit it, so is Ryan Reynolds.

While this pretty much had your typical romantic comedy recipe, there were subtle differences that put it over the top for me; number one being the addition of Betty White. She is one funny old lady. I wish she was my grandma. One scene that's a must, even for the guys, is when Bullock gets Crunk with it. That was worth the emasculation of watching this movie. Well, maybe.

Narghile Nightingale

So what if I'm a total nerd and have seen every season of the golden girls
AND the golden PALACE!? I'm sorry but this movie, "had me at hello" --- as
soon as the previews came out and I saw Betty FREAKIN' White, I was in love.

The Proposal = Alright

There are times when I just have to throw aside my "Judger" tendencies and go with the flow. With all machismo aside, I admit that I like the occasional romantic comedy. I'm sure you male readers can agree, and if you don't then kick rocks because you're lying.

The Proposal was alright. I think Sandra Bullock, an unofficial American Sweetheart, played the up-tight, mean magazine editor character well. Poor mag editors of the world. It seems all movies portray them that way: Mean, cruel, icy, terrifying and all that jazz.

The chemistry between her and Ryan Reynolds was great. Throw in a little Betty White and dog-eating Eagles and you have comedy. Oh and throw in Alaska too. I would be mad if I was Alaskan-- what a terrifying place to visit if you are an urban dweller. Haha.

Anyways good movie, see it, oh and if you see a mag exec, give them a pat on the back and tell them "It'll be OK," if they don't bite your head off in the process.
