Action Line #91006 – Sultan’s Inn pricing Published Oct. 19, 2009 By 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- Complaint: If this question has already been asked I apologize. I'm curious how the prices are set at the dining facility? Why is it you can get freshly made stir fry made with chicken breast for $1.30, yet the precooked, frozen chicken nuggets cost $5? Also, the small cartons of milk cost $1? Why the disparity? In an effort to prevent sticker shock would it be possible to post a price list? Thanks for your time. Response: Thank you for your questions concerning pricing at the dining facility. Prices are displayed on the menu board to your right just as you enter the facility. Please look there each meal period to see current pricing for the menu items being served. If you're unsure or don't see a price please feel free to ask any cashier. Prices must change based on our costs; therefore, you may see some menu items change price on a weekly basis depending on market costs. Pricing for all menu items is determined by the cost of the product and the portion size according to the Air Force Recipe Service. Different products and different recipes have different portion amounts per serving, which is the main reason for the disparity you have noticed in pricing. Additionally, precooked ready to serve items cost more than raw ingredients similar to when you're shopping at the commissary. This is the case concerning the chicken nuggets which are RTS and call for a 10 ounce portion vs. the stir fry which uses a raw chicken breast and only calls for 5 ounces of meat per portion (one chicken breast). The individual cartons of milk cost more due to our remote location and the associated transportation costs are included in the pricing of milk for appropriated fund dining facilities. If you would like to discuss pricing further or have any other questions please feel free to contact the dining facility manager at 676-6016.
