Action Line #91101–Bus service Published Dec. 8, 2009 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- Complaint: It's a great thing that there is non-stop bus service around the base. However, there is only one covered bus stop (near the clinic) along that route. If you happen to be at any of the other stops, you have to endure the elements for at least 10-15 minutes before the next bus arrives. Are there any plans to add some type of cover to the other bus stops? Typically, I see groups of individuals (military, dependents, local nationals) at the commissary, Eagle housing, billeting, front gate, and track bus stops which are not nearby the clinic bus stop or covered. Response: Thank you for bringing this concern to my attention. To answer your question directly, there are not currently any plans to add shelters to bus stops around base. The 39th Logistics Readiness Squadron requires flexibility in the location of their stops as the mission and layout of Incirlik continues to evolve. For example, a number of stops have changed several times in the past year as a result of periodic ridership and route analyses. However, as you noted, there are certain stops on our routes that will remain the same and would be good candidates for sheltered waiting areas. We will investigate this further to determine the ideal locations and the cost of funding this requirement. Thanks again for bringing it to my attention.
