Synopsis: Directed by Guy Ritchie (his work includes Snatch, RocknRolla and Lock and Stock and Two Smoking Barrels) this movie is a witty take on an old Character; Sherlock Holmes. In 2009's Sherlock Holmes, Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock and Jude Law as his side kick Dr. Watson solve a case involving an old enemy rising from the dead. Fun night at the movies

Sherlock Holmes was a very fun movie. The characters were a lot of fun and the subtle banter between Holmes and his faithful sidekick, Dr. Watson, was hilarious. I am a big fan of Robert Downey Jr. and think he was a perfect fit for this role. I've never really liked Jude Law, but I think he really fit well into his role as Watson.

I honestly don't know if Sir Arthur Conan Doyle would approve of this movie; however, I would definitely recommend this movie to pretty much anybody. It is a very good period piece loaded with great action and humor.

I know this is a weak review, but I've been busy. I'll step it up for the next one ... I promise.

The Dexter
Sherlock Holmes: The "movie's" afoot!

Guy Ritchie's "new school" take on an old icon, making a seemingly "modern-day-but-in-the-1800s" Sherlock Holmes, was mighty refreshing. Though the movie definitely took a slight detour from the actual books, a spot-on forecasting, fast talking, boxing Sherlock kept me entertained.

I liked the hyperactivity, it's easy for me to keep up with and despite what most have to say, I think I'd be more inclined to watch a series of this hipster wit, than read the old school books.

Also, I really enjoyed the random spots of scenes with Gladstone, Sherlock and Watson's English bulldog, and the mightiness of his stamina with Sherlock's many experiments. And the quotable quotes! Don't forget those!

(See: Beneath this pillow lies the key to my release)

IMDB's description of the movie is as such: "Detective Sherlock Holmes and his stalwart partner, Watson, engage in a battle of wits and brawns with a nemesis whose plot is a threat to all England."

Meaning, Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law have some awesome chemistry and played their characters to a "T". Although I need to be reminded what that actually means. And despite the quick deduction Sherlock is so famous for, there was plenty of humor and stuff being destroyed that kept me entertained through the entire 128 minutes.

There was a review that stated the movie was like "a series of desserts with no main course"- but I say, screw the meatloaf, bring on the cheesecake!

So, stick THAT in your pipe and smoke it.

(And, please see the movie.)

BA Holmes

I love Sherlock Holmes! He's the clever, witty, sarcastic, grungy man who can solve a case like no other. But the difference between him before and him now, well let's just say, he's been practicing his butt kickin' skills. The new Sherlock Holmes is perfect for this generation. It's filled with action, but still has the old fashion Holmes feel. I would recommend this movie to everyone!
