Complaint:
Good afternoon. First of all, I wanted to say thank you a million times to the base for producing the Happenings magazine for us! It is so nice to be able to flip through and check out the fun activities going on around the base, and the marketing people do a great job on it. I am writing today to see if it was possible for the Happenings or the Incirlik website could perhaps advertise a little further out into the future. My husband works for a squadron that has 12-14 hour shifts and two days off per week (not including the meetings/classes he has to attend on those days off) and has to plan very early in advance for any kind of leave. I know that some personnel on the base work a more "normal" schedule, but for those of us who have to plan so far ahead, going anywhere or doing anything is such a frustrating process. When we arrived here in 2008, we were reminded often by commanders that for moral purposes, we should strive to travel and experience things outside of the base. After being here two years and now being involuntarily extended, I strongly agree! I would love to experience Turkey and get a short reprieve from Incirlik, but it takes some of us a little longer to plan for it. Is it possible to advertise into the middle of the next month?

Response:
Thank you for the positive comments about the 39th Force Support Squadron's Happenings! We're glad that you find it to be a valuable resource for local events and programs. We think that trying to advertise trips and tours more than a month in advance is a great idea. ITT and Outdoor Recreation both have the ability to schedule up to two months in advance. Unfortunately, trying to plan out farther than two months is difficult due to seasonal price fluctuations and local hotel reservation policies. Since the February edition of the Happenings is already at print, we will incorporate your idea into the March 2010 edition.

As a friendly reminder, please keep in mind that both ITT and Outdoor Recreation can arrange customized trips and tours that fit your schedule anytime. We want you to enjoy your opportunity to explore Turkey and will do our best to make sure you can!
