While they're having dinner two men approach them and instructs them to stand up and go with them. They think the men are with the restaurant and want to talk to them about taking someone else's reservation. But it appears the couple whose reservation they took crossed someone and the two men work for this person. The men are after something, but whatever it is they don't have it. Chaz Date Night = What I wanted out of a comedy In this day of comedy, I don't think you can pair up two comedians better than Steve Carell and Tina Fey. They're both funny as hell, and their chemistry really shows in "Date Night." So in a nutshell, Carell's character decides to use one of he and Fey's date nights to spice up their lack-luster, ordinary relationship, only to have a totally crazy night filled with stolen restaurant reservations, mistaken identity, bribery, crooked cops, strip clubs and Markey Mark? Yeah, he's in the movie too, along with numerous other stars making hilarious cameos. I went into the movie excited to see Carell. I'm a huge fan of "The Office," and the characters he plays always make me crack up. He didn't disappoint. He plays the middle-aged, out-of-touch but wants to be cool character well. And when he tries to be cool, hilarity ensues. Granted some parts of the movie was over the top and silly, but I suppose that comes with the territory of a comedy. There's this part with two cars that are stuck together and go back and forth trying to detach from each other that the movie really could have done without. Other than that, I "LOL'd" throughout. So although it's not Farrelly brothers funny, I say see it. In fact, make it a date night. Lambchop Date Night: good times So, I'm a huge Tina Fey fan and I have to say, she did not disappoint with Date Night, definitely better than Baby Mama. The movie starts out by taking you through a couple's (Tina Fey and Steve Carell) mundane everyday life of work, taking care of kids and a less than impressive love life. Until one night they decide to switch things up and do something different for their usual lackluster Date Night. From that point on the movie is quite ridiculous, but not all in a bad way. The only part I didn't like was the "OMG what could they get into next" overtone that most Ben Stiller movies reek of. Other than that I loved the random humor from Fey and Carrell, even if it was an off-handed comment about farting in a box, it's very SNL and I love that. if you like to laugh and don't mind staring at Mark Wahlberg's bare chest for a while, I would strongly suggest you go see this, even if you wait for it to come out on DVD, do it. They call me Roy Date Night - It's about time! I've been waiting for a solid comedy to come out for awhile now. There seems to be a huge lack of decent comedies lately. And most of them aren't necessarily for all audiences. Many of today's comedies target more of a younger crowd with pretty vulgar humor and extreme violence; not that I have a problem with that. But this movie targets a wider audience. I'm a huge Steve Carell fan and really appreciate Tina Fey's smart comedy technique. They work well together in this movie. You can really picture them as a couple. Now, as someone who has been married for 14 years now, this movie was very familiar to me. The tired husband who comes home and falls asleep on the couch; the kids coming in at 4:50 a.m. doing the atomic knee drop to wake you up while begging for breakfast; even the part where they talk each other out of having sex because they were too tired and it would just be way too much work. It kind of hit home. After they get out on their exciting date is where the movie really picks up the pace. It was a lot of fun watching them try to escape from the bad guys while trying to convince themselves they can just go home and everything will be ok. This is definitely a must see--especially for any married couple. Make it a date night and check it out. Agree or disagree? Click "add a comment" below to give us your opinion.
