Action Line #100426 – Speed bumps added on Antalya Ct Published June 30, 2010 By 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- Complaint: Throughout the last couple months living on Antalya Ct. I have noticed a lot of people speeding and there are a bunch of kids out playing and they pop out of nowhere. What do I need to do to get a couple speed bumps added on this street to reduce speeding? Response: Thanks for taking time to provide your input and concern. The wing is very concerned about drivers who use excess speed in the housing areas as well so we actively promote traffic safety throughout the these areas, which include the placement of speed bumps on long straight-aways and children-at-play and speed limit signs. Speed bumps are expensive to place and maintain in the long run, and Antalya Ct. is similar to all the other cul-de-sacs in base housing: the roads are simply not long enough (with respect to traffic engineering principles) to warrant speed bumps. Unfortunately, some individuals, no matter what measures are taken, either forget or ignore posted signs and speed limits. For those folks, alert security forces patrols when notified of inappropriate driving in the housing areas. Additionally, we will increase patrols there in the near future. The Law Enforcement Desk telephone number for reporting speeding vehicles is 676-3200.
