Action Line #100305 – Dog Park Published July 26, 2010 By 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- Complaint: I live in Phantom Housing. My husband and I are the owners of two wonderful dogs. I love it that there is a dog park available, but am annoyed that it is so far away. To top things off there is a pond in the park that is not fenced off. I do not own a truck, my car stays dirty. Plus, I'm pretty sure the water is not safe for them to drink, and it makes them all dirty and stinky. So what was meant to be something fun for the whole family, including the dogs? Has turned into a hassle by the time we are done. I would like to make a request; can we fence off the pond? Or, even better solution in Phantom Housing in between the basketball and tennis court is an empty grass area that is already fenced off on one side. Is there any way to fence off the other side? Make it a dog park? Response: Thank you for taking advantage of the Dog Patch dog park. A lot of work went into obtaining it during the spring of 2009. Unfortunately, due to zoning and property regulations, it was agreed that the only way a dog park could be arranged was if it was away from housing and children's play areas. The horse stable was the location that was chosen. As for the pond, it was built for the dogs to have something to wade in during the hot summer months. We have looked into fencing it off and are currently working a plan to obtain more fencing to do so. At the time it was created, the park was organized and supplied by private organization donations, so everything there including time and labor was donated by very giving and kind-hearted people. If anyone would like to help support the park in any way, please feel free to contact Dee Acree at the library. Thank you again for using the dog park and for giving us a chance to thank all of the people who have made it happen!
