Action Line #100704 - Vet Clinic Published Sept. 2, 2010 By 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- Complaint: I recently walked into the veterinary clinic in building 912 to purchase some products for my animals and it was very hot. It was as hot in the building as it was outside. The girls in the office are hot and the animals that come into the building are hot as well. This isn't the first time that I have gone into the veterinary clinic and it has been hot. This is a very important facility and it is not safe for the animals or the staff of the clinic to be hot all the time. Civil Engineering has stated the temperature is set and maintained at 78 degrees Fahrenheit for energy conservation. Well I know for a fact that there are other offices that are set at a much lower temperature than this. It is not safe for animals that have to stay at the office while being observed to be in temperature this high. Why is it this office which helps our four legged family members has to remain so warm? Response: Thank you for taking time to identify these concerns. You may have heard or read about the 39 ABW guidelines to conserve energy, which require administrative facility thermostat settings to be 78 degrees Fahrenheit. However, given the unique circumstances at the veterinary clinic, we have directed Civil Engineering to adjust the facility cooling to 72 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure a comfortable climate. I trust this will keep our canine and human customers reasonably happy and healthy throughout the summer season. Please feel free to contact the Civil Engineer Service Call desk at 676-7008 if you have any further concerns.
