A comedy tour, sponsored by the Armed Forces Entertainment, brought two well-known comedians here to perform for Airmen and their families August 24, 2010.

Actor, stand-up comedian and veteran of the comedy show "In Living Color," Tommy Davidson and opening comic, Rob Maher, spent the day meeting with the Incirlik team.

"I've been doing these visits for 17 years now," said Davidson. "It's a chance to entertain and bring laughs to the troops."

Both comedians started an all-day schedule designed to spend as much time with the Airmen as possible with a live interview on Incirlik's Armed Forces Network morning radio show. After the interview, the comedians spent time meeting Airmen and their families and signing autographs at the base exchange.

"It's always a pleasure to meet entertainers in person and I'm really impressed with those who come all the way to Turkey and downrange to support us," said Capt. Gerald Harvey, 39th ABW Wing Plans and Readiness project officer. "Laughter is good medicine and he [Tommy Davidson] definitely knows how to give it out."

The comedians also traveled to various locations throughout the day to meet Airmen in their work centers.

"Doing our job abroad separates all of us from our families and friends and that can take its toll," said Capt. Matthew Dibble, 385th Air Expeditionary Group executive officer. "Tommy Davidson's visit was an awesome event."

Davidson and Maher finished their visit here performing stand-up comedy for an audience of approximately 300 at the Incirlik Club Complex.

"The military is truly a melting pot with all kinds of different people," the comedian said. "I love that about these visits."

The AFE Comedy Tour started Aug. 21 and will continue through several countries until Sept. 6.
