Team Incirlik has exceeded CFC goal Published Dec. 10, 2010 By Senior Airman Anthony J. Hyatt 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- With only one week left in Incirlik's 2010 Combined Federal Campaign, the base has already achieved its goal, but is still accepting donations until Dec. 15. Incirlik's goal of $70,000 for the 2010 CFC has been exceeded by more than $30,000. To this date, $109,715.14 has been donated and this progress is displayed in the form of a CFC thermometer in front of the official document center. "I am proud to be part of this community of giving. I'm glad the men and women of Team Incirlik have the opportunity to do so much this year," said Col. Eric Beene, the 39th Air Base Wing commander. "Every contribution shows that we are a community that cares, that tries to do our part to help in making a world of difference." To date, 6,413 people assigned to U.S. Air Forces in Europe have donated $1,477,916.84 with a 97 percent contact rate, according to staff reports. The CFC is the world's largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign. It consists of more than 200 CFC campaigns throughout the country and internationally to help raise millions of dollars each year, according to their website. Combined Federal Campaign's mission is to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee focused, cost-efficient and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all. The campaign features more than 2,300 organizations working to address the many critical needs throughout the world. Many of these charities support reintegration programs for servicemembers overseas, as well as various other programs for veterans, active-duty servicemembers, and their families. Although the goal has been reached, Airmen are still highly encouraged to contribute according to 2nd Lt. Harry Trosch, 39th Operations Squadron and Incirlik CFC coordinator. "Individuals should still donate because it reflects what we do as an Air Force every single day and it is one of our core values-excellence in all we do," said the lieutenant. "Trying to build on that excellence should be part of everything that you do and giving to the CFC, people in need, is no exception." This year's CFC offers several easy ways to contribute including online-pledge assistant, credit-card giving and the traditional paper pledge form, said Tech. Sgt. Joseph Porter, a 39th ABW CFC unit representative. For more information on donating to the CFC, contact your unit representative or visit www.cfcoverseas.org.
