Holiday mail is here, time to volunteer Published Dec. 20, 2010 By Tech. Sgt. Valda Wilson 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- The Official Document Center here is looking for volunteers to assist with the increased mail volume expected during the holiday season. "Having volunteers helps get mail to our customers faster," said Maj. Patrick Daniel, the 39th Communications Squadron commander, "especially during the holiday season when our mail volume increases." The ODC depends on the Incirlik community to help process the mail and make it available to customers in a timely matter. "We received over 85,000 pounds of mail in November," said Tech. Sgt. Eric Dearing, the post master for the ODC, "and we are expecting well over 100,000 pounds for December." Volunteers are an important part of the ODC. They help unload mail trucks, pitch magazines and letter-class mail and hand out parcels at the pick-up window. Active-duty military, dependents and civilians can volunteer. "Volunteering at the ODC is important because the ODC is a vital part of the Incirlik community," Major Daniel added. "Our customers depend on the service we provide. Our volunteers help us better provide that vital service." To find out more information on volunteering at the ODC please call 676-6301.
