Eric Beene, the 39th Air Base Wing commander, addressed members of the Incirlik community at a town hall meeting in the Club Complex here Jan. 11. "These town hall meetings are my opportunity to talk to the entire Incirlik community and, more importantly, for the community members to talk to me," Col. Beene said. "We have these meetings so I can ensure we're taking care of you and meeting your needs." The colonel discussed upcoming base events and inspections, distinguished visitors coming to Incirlik AB, our partnership with our host 10th Tanker Command and stressed the importance of safety and security. After the commander's opening remarks, several members of base leadership briefed the audience, including representatives from the 39th ABW Public Affairs office, the 39th Safety office, the 39th Medical Group, the 39th Mission Support Group, the 39th Force Support Squadron, the 39th Civil Engineer Squadron, and the 39th Communications Squadron. Some of the major topics covered were the Incirlik Super Bowl commercial contest, our support for the 10th Tanker Command's children's book drive, the expiration and renewing of the base gate passes and the change to the policy regarding motor scooters on base. Briefers also updated the audience on the status of construction projects around the base, clarified rules prohibiting black marketing items received through the Official Document Center and reminded residents to terminate their phone service when moving away from the base. The town hall also served as a forum to answer several questions and address concerns from the community. "With constant turnover at Incirlik and ever-changing processes across the wing and country, there are always questions about why we do the things we do," Col. Beene said. "We're always looking for good ideas to improve what we do and how we do it. These town hall meetings give me the opportunity to answer your questions and ask for your good ideas."
