Personnel team visits Incirlik, discusses assignments, training Published Feb. 9, 2011 By 1st Lt Gina McKeen 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- A team of personnel experts from the Air Force Personnel Center visited the base Jan. 28, as part of the personnel center's 12-base "Spread the Word" tour to meet with senior leaders and Airmen. The purpose of the tour was to get feedback from the field and on any personnel issues so they can take actions to correct them, and to educate Airmen about the Air Force assignment systems, force development measures and training opportunities, said Maj. Gen. A.J. Stewart, the Air Force Personnel Center commander. The briefs were targeted at meeting with officer and enlisted Airmen assigned to space and missile operations, munitions and missile maintenance, security forces and other career fields, and stressed the critical need for Airmen to be assigned to right jobs. By hearing from the folks who do the mission each day, they said, the folks at AFPC will know whether they are on track. "We appreciate what you do. We're trying to make sure we do the best for you so you can take care of your business here," said Chief Master Sgt. Judith Siano from the Airman Assignments branch at AFPC, and one of the briefers on the tour. During the visit, the AFPC team informed Airmen about enlisted and officer assignment processes, force development measures, training and other personnel programs. Airmen were also offered the chance to give feedback about Air Force personnel programs and to ask questions. "I appreciate that they came to Incirlik," said Lt. Col. Glen Christensen, the 39th Security Forces Squadron commander here. "This was important for two reasons: 1. the system can change rapidly because of the dynamic nature of the Air Force and, 2. it's very nice to get the latest and greatest information and answers from the experts." The briefings also addressed recent changes to personnel services. The group emphasized the ability to complete transactional work online using the secure Personnel Services website rather than in person and the accessibility of the Total Force Service Center--the Air Force's personnel call center--which is available 24/7 excluding certain major holidays. The toll free number is 1-800-525-0102.
