Welsh III, the U.S. Air Forces in Europe commander, visited top Turkish military leaders here, Feb. 2. During his visit, General Welsh stressed the importance of building relationships with the people of Turkey. General Welsh also participated in a wreath laying ceremony honoring Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey. The ceremony was held at Anitkabir, Ataturk's memorial and mausoleum, and was planned especially for the general's visit. After his trip to Ankara, General Welsh visited the Airmen at the 39th Air Base Wing at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey, where he received a tour of the base, met with Airmen and expressed his appreciation for the work they do each day.
