Hyatt 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- Members who reside in the United States, but are currently deployed or stationed overseas, still have the opportunity to vote in upcoming elections back in the States, such as municipal unitary elections. With programs like the Federal Voting Assistance Program, military members can register to vote in elections and request absentee ballots. The first of these municipal unitary elections will occur in Jacksonville, Fla., March 22. Voters will cast ballots to elect the following: mayor, sheriff, property appraiser, tax collector and City Council districts: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13 and 14, and City Council at-large groups: 1, 2, 4 and 5. Jacksonville residents who are serving overseas can still participate in these elections. Tuesday, Feb. 22, is the deadline to register for those who are interested in voting in this election. Voters must visit www.fvap.gov to get started. Once at the site, individuals can request a ballot. Alternatively, voters may obtain a Federal Post Card Application from their unit or installation voting assistance officer and at U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide, but they must follow the Florida instructions given at www.fvap.gov when completing this form.
