Renovations to enhance airmen's quality of life Published March 3, 2011 By Tech. Sgt. Valda Wilson 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- Several facilities within the Force Support Squadron here are undergoing renovations that will enhance the quality of life for the Incirlik community, officials say. The renovations include changes to two food and beverage operations on base as well as at the fitness center. "Our main goal is to improve the quality of life for all Airmen and their families stationed here at Incirlik," said Christine Frazier, the chief of the sustainment flight for the 39th Force Support Squadron. The dining room at the club complex recently transitioned from Palazzo's Restaurant to the American Roadhouse Grill, and had a ribbon cutting ceremony Feb. 4, to mark the transition. The restaurant has a new look, including upgraded seating, wall treatments, lighting and overall décor, as well as a new "American-style" menu, FSS officials said. "The American Roadhouse Grill [is] a wonderful addition to the food outlets available here at Incirlik," Ms. Frazier said. "Our hope is that by bringing a piece of home to our Airmen, it will make their tour that much more enjoyable...and give them more variety while dining on base." The bar in the club ballroom is also receiving a new look. The entire area will receive a complete overhaul that includes new marble countertops at the bars, ceramic tile accents, and new cabinets, lighting and equipment. Renovations are expected to be completed by the middle of March, officials said. There are also plans to renovate the enlisted and officer bar areas within the year. "The ballroom bar renovation will not only improve the aesthetics of the ballroom itself, the larger bar area and upgraded equipment will improve our ability to serve our customers more efficiently," said Ms. Frazier. The bowling center's snack bar is also being renovated to give the area diner-like feel and an upgraded menu, officials said. Construction is completed in the fitness center weight room, where crews replaced the flooring, and upgrades of the center's basketball court are scheduled to begin in March.
