Alexandre Montes 39th Air Base Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- The 728th Air Mobility Squadron here recently upgraded the command and control equipment that is used in the Air MobilityControl Center to coordinate the maintenance, aerial port and mission execution of all AMC missions at Incirlik, officials here said. The new equipment was introduced at a ribbon cutting ceremony March 3.. The new command and control system allows Airmen to communicate more efficiently with different agencies and organizations. Controllers can utilize the multi-conference call option to link an aircraft in distress with an aircraft systems technical expert on the other side of the world, if the need arises. "Using this system benefits Airmen by uniting our radio and phone systems, making it easier for controllers to communicate faster between different agencies," said Airman 1st Class Eric Krausen, a 728th AMS airlift operations controller. Working with a global communications provider and the Air Mobility Command, the 728th AMS was able to upgrade to this state-of-the-art $400,000 high-path touch screen communications system. This was a four-year project and was accomplished in collaboration with many different agencies. "We are extremely grateful for all the help from Air Mobility Command, the Office of Defense Cooperation in Ankara, the 39th Air Base Wing leadership and the Communications and Civil Engineering squadrons which did all of the Allied Support in advance of this project," said Lt. Col. Gary Goosen, the 728th AMS director of operations. The new system enhances emergency response capabilities, saves time and manpower, and will help accomplish the mission more efficiently, officials said.
