Comedy tour visits Incirlik Published June 21, 2011 By Senior Airman William O'Brien 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- The 39th Force Support Squadron hosted an All Star Comedy Tour with three comedians performing stand-up acts June 10 at the Club Complex here. The show was held for an audience of approximately 300 people and was headlined by soldier-turned-comedian Alex Ortiz. It also featured Lav Luv, who is also former service member, and was hosted by Daran Howard. "I was in the Army before I was a comedian and I've been doing (shows for service members) every year since I became a comedian," said Mr. Ortiz. "This is so much fun." Mr. Ortiz said he especially enjoys performing for service members overseas because, unlike those stationed in the continental U.S., service members overseas don't have access to as much entertainment. "Doing a military venue overseas is a special treat that makes me feel better because of how much they appreciate you for coming out here. It makes the trip worth it," said Mr. Ortiz. After the show, the comedians spent time meeting Airmen and civilians and their spouses while signing autographs in the Club Complex lobby. "The show was great," said Tech. Sgt. Greg Hasecuster, 39th Comptroller Squadron quality assurance manager. "Meeting them was a good opportunity to get to know them a little better and express our appreciation for them coming and for them to tell us they appreciate us being here." Mr. Ortiz said doing shows like this is his way to show service members how much he appreciates what they do. "God bless all you guys because if it weren't for you guys, I wouldn't be able to do what I do every day," said Mr. Ortiz. "Coming over here is repayment for what you guys do for me." For the All Star Comedy Show, the three comedians will visit several bases around Europe and Asia.
