Two of the 25 winners announced Sept. 20 as recipients of the Air Force Clubs annual scholarship applied as members of Team Incirlik.

Air Force club members and family members submitted a 500-word essay themed "My contribution(s) to the Air Force." The Air Force Services Agency in San Antonio received more than 100 entries for Air Force-level consideration.

Jason Clute, 39th Force Support Squadron, and Patricia Gates, daughter of former 39th Maintenance Group Commander retired Col. Eric Gates, were selected to receive $1,000 scholarships through the Air Force Club Scholarship Program.

This is the 15th consecutive year Air Force clubs have sponsored this scholarship essay contest in support of the Air Force's commitment to taking care of Airmen and their families.

"The Air Force Clubs program is committed to fostering a sense of community among our total force Airmen, civilians and their families," said Fred McKenney, Air Force food and beverage division chief. "Providing a scholarship to help members and their families defray the cost of higher education is one way we achieve this."
