Incirlik Tax Center to open for tax season

The Incirlik Tax Center is scheduled to open Feb. 6 for the 2011 tax season. Free income tax preparation is available to all active-duty and retired military members, Reservists, National Guard, and civilian employees, as well as their eligible dependents.

The tax center is located in Bldg. 833, Room 163, which is next to the civilian personnel office. Signage within the building will point patrons to the location. Members who are unable to visit the Tax Center may access free programs through www.militaryonesource.com from their home computer to prepare their taxes. Additional information about military-specific tax preparation is available at http://www.irs.gov/individuals/military/index.html.

Important information about the tax center:

· The Incirlik Tax Center will remain in operation until April 18.

· The tax center can assist up to three people at a time. Hours are 8 a.m. to noon Mondays and Wednesdays, and Thursday from noon to 4 p.m. The tax center is located in the 39 ABW headquarters Building 833, Room 163.

· People can access www.militaryonesource.com 24 hours a day to complete their taxes on their own. Customers can also bring documents into the tax center to receive assistance from a trained volunteer.

· An appointment is necessary to receive assistance at the tax center. The appointment requirement may be subject to change. Call the legal office at DSN 676-6800 to schedule an appointment.

· From Feb. 6-16, the tax center will only accept 1040EZ filers. As of Feb. 20, all eligible tax filers are welcome.

· If members have not filed 2010 taxes because of a deployment or other reason, call the legal office and inform the legal representative of the situation before making an appointment. 

To better help in planning, taxpayers should bring the following with them to tax preparation appointment:

- Military ID card
- Social Security cards for themselves, spouses and all dependents
- All tax statements such as Forms W-2, 1099-R, 1099-INT, etc.
- Last year's tax return
- Expense information such as medical bills, home mortgage interest, charitable contributions, child care expenses, and student loan and un-reimbursed education expenses
- For a faster refund by direct deposit, bring a checkbook or proof of bank routing and account number.
