The 2012 Summer Olympics will be broadcasted by American Forces Radio and Television Service for the duration of the games July 25 through Aug. 12.

The American Forces Network will air the Olympics just as NBC broadcasts it to the audience in the U.S.

"When NBC is airing their Summer Olympics coverage, it will be airing simultaneously on AFN," said Maser Sgt. Lee Hoover, AFN Incirlik superintendent. "However, if the NBC broadcast is tape-delayed for the American audience stateside, then it will technically be delayed here, as well."

The games will air on three AFN channels. AFN|sports will mirror NBC, AFN|prime will copy NBC Sports, and AFN|xtra will air the MSNBC feed. The games broadcasted on Incirlik give Airmen and their families a chance to feel like they are back in the U.S.

"It gives us an opportunity to cheer on our country as we serve it overseas. We all
sacrifice a bit by serving our country in a remote location, and the opportunity to watch the Summer Olympics is an opportunity to watch the country we hold dearly shine on a global stage," said Hoover. "It also provides a nice taste of home.

"The ability to watch the Summer Olympics from our living rooms here in Turkey is pretty fascinating," added Hoover. "Technology has come a long way. My grandfather would be jealous."
