Country singer and songwriter Jeff Harris performed a concert at the Izmir Club Aug. 4, for service members and civilians stationed in Izmir.

Harris, who is from Nashville, Tenn., visited Izmir as part of an Armed Forces Entertainment tour, said Jim Kutrubis, 425th Air Base Squadron services director.

"Jeff Harris performed his melodic tunes for over two hours to a full house, interacted personally with the audience and gave all attendees a most enjoyable time," Kutrubis said.

According to members of the audience, Harris read the crowd well and performed several familiar songs to bring a bit of the U.S. and a whole lot of country to Izmir.

"It was great that Armed Forces Entertainment could bring a touch of America to a dependent-restricted duty station. It meant a lot to the troops who attended," said Lt. Col. Marc Galler, 425th ABS commander.

Though the country singer was a magnet for autograph seekers, he was just as intrigued by the lifestyle of the service members and local nationals stationed in Izmir, Harris said. Audience members expressed their appreciation to Harris and Armed Forces Entertainment for visiting Izmir and look forward to future tours and events.
