Airman found guilty of assault

An Airman assigned to the 39th Security Forces Squadron was found guilty in a court martial in the 39th Air Base Wing courtroom here Aug. 9.

Airman 1st Class Jonathan Carlow, 39th SFS, was tried by a panel of military members and found guilty of battery. He was sentenced to reduction to the grade of E-2, forfeiture of $500 base pay, restriction to base for 45 days and hard labor without confinement for 15 days.

After being found guilty, Carlow made an unsworn statement in which he apologized for his actions and explained that he is taking steps to change his behavior. The conviction stemmed from an incident that occurred May 17, 2012, in which Carlow assaulted a victim in violation of Article 128, assault, of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
