An Airman from the 425th Air Base Squadron communications flight, is slated to represent U.S. Air Forces in Europe at the U.S. Air Force Marathon at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, Sept. 15.

Staff Sgt. Jeremy Duddles, 425th Air Base Squadron communications cyber transport systems technician, will compete in the half-marathon category. This is his second time competing in the annual marathon.

"I'm happy to represent Izmir in the half-marathon category," said Duddles. "The support from Team Izmir has been phenomenal and so overwhelming."

Last year, he participated in the half-marathon with the USAFE team and placed 33 out of 4,668 finishers, 22 overall for active duty and fifth for his age group. His final time was 1 hour, 23 minutes, 36 seconds, which is a 6:23 minute per mile pace for 13.1 miles. Duddles placed second on the USAFE team by two seconds.

"I know it will be tough this year as well, but I can't wait for the race this Saturday," Duddles said.

"The whole squadron is proud of Duddles and his selection to represent USAFE," said Lt. Col. Marc Galler, 425th Air Base Squadron commander. "Team Izmir is rooting for him to make his goal time this Saturday," exclaimed Galler.

Nearly 15,000 runners are registered for the Air Force Marathon.
