Eric Summers Jr. 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- Members of the 39th Air Base Wing and local community gathered for a ground breaking ceremony for the Consolidated Community Center Feb. 13, on Incirlik Air Base. The Consolidated Community Center is scheduled to open in the fall of 2014 and will include a theater, library, game and activities room, conference room, multipurpose room with a stage, and reading and computer rooms. "The new facility will be unique as it consolidates three separate functions," said Lt. Col. Rick Rieger, United States Army Corps of Engineers Europe District Air Force program manager. "The facility will provide a safe, healthy and fun environment for service members, civilians and their families to gather for all types of community activities." The new structure will consolidate the functions of five buildings on base to meet the needs of U.S. and Turkish forces and their families. "Never underestimate the importance of what we do here every day together, and what the center will do to enhance the mission and quality of life even more," said Col. Chris Craige, 39th ABW commander. "Think of this as part of the legacy we get to leave for those who come after us. Essentially, as some might say, we are 'paying it forward.'"
