The Air Force officially launched the 2013 Community Assessment Survey April 8, that will run through May 31.

The survey here themed, "A Strong Community Depends on You," is sponsored by 39th Air Base Wing Integrated Delivery System team. The goal of the survey is to provide data on community wellness, strengths and risks that have a direct impact on mission readiness.

"The community assessment survey has been mandated by Headquarters Air Force and it is set forth to determine the climate of the Air Force," said Almeda Giles, 39th Air Base Wing community support coordinator. "What we are trying to find out is if we are meeting the needs of the active duty, civilians and family."

The survey is completely anonymous and personal identifiable information cannot be linked to participants' responses.

A small portion of Incirlik active duty members and appropriated fund civilian employees will be invited to complete the survey by email. Some spouses will be mailed postcards inviting them to complete the survey. Because the survey is only made available to a small portion of the base population, those who do receive it are highly encouraged to participate and let their voices be heard.

"It's important for everyone who receives this survey to complete it, which will take about 20 to 25 minutes, because it shows the commander the climate of the base," Giles continued. "[The survey] gives the IDS group an opportunity to reach out and actually correct those things that are wrong in our community, and it is a way to help us make things better. It also provides information to headquarters Air force as to the needs of Incirlik Air Base."

The results for the ten-week Community Assessment survey are scheduled to be released October 2013. The results will be used by wing leadership and the Air Force to target resources where they are needed most, to improve the delivery of community services and to enhance the wellbeing of our members. Past survey findings have resulted in providing additional services and programs to benefit both service members and families.

"I really want people to fill the survey out because it's a way of them voicing their concerns and their feelings," Giles explained. "If they don't know that we are listening, then they don't know that we care. We want them to know that we are both listening and care."
