(Editors note: Changes to this story were made to reflect a better means of pre-ordering sandwhiches.)

The Incirlik Commissary opened a made-to-order sandwich shop in the deli April 11.

The sandwich shop came about as a result of feedback recevied at Incirlik's Army and Air Force Exchange Service and commissary advisory council meetings.

"People wanted a place where sandwiches could be made," said Art Tellers, commissary director.

Before, the deli would only pre-make sandwiches for the "grab and go" section at the entrance to the commissary, Tellers said. Now sandwiches can be made to order with the ingredients of the customer's choice.

For multiple orders, the shop requests that customers pre-order via fax by 10 a.m. the day they want the order so it will be ready for lunch, said Rosario Aydil, commissary manager.

However, walk-ins are definitely accepted, the director added.

"So far, no sandwiches have been named yet," Tellers said. "There aren't any specialties, but people can choose their ingredients to customize their sandwich."

The shop will be open during normal commissary hours from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. To pre-order sandwiches, contact the commisary at 676-3212.
