INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey --

Incirlik Airmen participated in a Memorial Day Ruck March on May 27, 2019, at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey. The march was approximately nine-miles long and served as a way for Airmen to come together and pay respect to fallen service members.

Memorial Day was first created by Congress as Decoration Day, because it was set aside as a time for families to decorate the graves of their fallen family members. The day was repurposed after World War I as a day to remember the fallen service members of all wars fought by the United States.
