The itinerary included touring the facilities at NATO, Izmir Collocated Center and the U.S. sole use facilities at Çiğli Air Base. Filler and Furman were briefed by flight chiefs, staff agencies and tenant organizations at all three locations.

"We always welcome 39th ABW leadership to visit Izmir," said U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Clinton Guenther, 425th Air Base Squadron commander. "Visits like these from Incirlik allow leadership to see 425th ABS successes and struggles on a first-hand basis. The two-day immersion that Col Filler and Lt Col Furman received enables them to understand the two 425 ABS missions: administratively supporting NATO LANDCOM and Çiğli AB. Their interaction with the airmen of the 425th ABS was invaluable. Connecting young airmen with senior leaders from the 39 ABW is a great experience that helps to connect the 425 ABS mission to USAFE’s strategic objectives. We always look forward to showcasing the great work our folks do here, day in, day out…Knight standard!"

The colonel also attended a breakfast with the 425th ABS NCOs at the Izmir Club to hear Airmen’s and local nationals’ views on mission-related issues and to listen to their concerns.

Filler was briefed by flight chiefs at the sole U.S. use facilities during his tour at the Çiğli Air Base Oct. 12.

Filler praised the efforts of the Izmir community members and said that the men and women of the 425th ABS, to include active duty, civilian and contractors, serve a crucial role in supporting our NATO allies.

The 39th ABW vice commander said he was impressed with the Izmir community.

"The 425th not only has a diverse and challenging mission but do a phenomenal job as ambassadors to NATO and Turkey," said Filler. "I know we have the right people with the right focus getting the job done."

Izmir military and local community members expressed their appreciation for the guidance and support they are getting from the 39th MSG and 39th ABW leadership and look forward to future visits.
