U.S. military members joined forces with the 10th Tanker Base Command for a memorial ceremony in honor of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, Nov. 10, 2017.

'The Father of Turkey’, as Mustafa Kemal Ataturk is referred to, achieved many political and social victories for the modern Turkish republic. He is revered by the Turkish people and represents a brave history.

Ataturk passed away on Nov. 10, 1938, at the age of 57.

The 79th anniversary of his death was ceremoniously remembered by laying wreaths at a monument of Ataturk. A moment of silence came after the blowing of sirens and car horns. The Turkish flags were then lowered to half-staff while the national anthem played. A word from base leadership and a speech about Ataturk's life followed.

The ceremony closed with honors and salutes rendered to Ataturk's monument by attendees.
