The 39th Operations Support Squadron is comprised of a diverse team of U.S. and Turkish aviation operations professionals, orchestrating the command and control of vital U.S., Turkish, and NATO alliance airpower projection in support of full-spectrum airpower and surety operations across three geographic and multiple functional combatant commands.
The squadron is comprised of 91 aviation operations professionals who serve as the nerve center for airpower in NATO’s Southern Region. In a critical partnership with Turkish Air Force and civilian meteorological experts, the squadron guarantees the 24/7 safe, secure and integrated flow of air traffic in USAFE’s busiest aerodrome. By the effective employment of $148 million in strategic airfield and weather assets, the 39 OSS stands as USAFE’s premier airpower projection platform. The readiness makes the squadron a critical enabler for the 39th Air Base Wing’s Agile Combat Employment capabilities, ensuring responsive, forward-based airpower can be projected anywhere throughout Türkiye and across NATO’s vital Southern Region to protect U.S. and Allied interests.
