Throughout Incirlik, large signs have begun to appear on intersections showing the direction of the newly opened Turkish Arkasdas market with the distance to the market.

Arkadas (meaning friend in Turkish) market, opened in July 2015 and replaced the old Turkish shoppette located within the Turkish housing area. The new market is now located at Bldg. 282 on A Street.

The market is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week, the facility offers nearly 3300 square feet of shopping space for patrons. However, the facility is closed the last day of every month for inventory.

Items that can be found at the Turkish market include: fresh bread, several types of cheeses and olives, meat, milk, eggs, crackers, cosmetics, detergents, water and beverages.

According to market officials, almost 50 percent of their customers are Americans residing on the base. Officials also stated that they would like Americans on the base to visit their market at least once.

Furthermore the officials said that the most popular section for customers is the fruit and vegetables due to their freshness. The market's produce is purchased and brought to the market on a daily basis. The facility also has a variety of spices, Turkish delight and other unique Turkish products.

As with other on-base Turkish facilities, the new market only accepts credit card payments for purchases. For questions or to leave feedback for the market leadership, e-mail tankerkantin@gmail.com.
