What an exciting week of Incirlik Intramural flag football. As the field narrowed to three teams Nov. 9, the team who has said the least finds themselves in the championship game and waiting for the two teams who had the most to say during these playoffs.

The silent but deadly 39th Contracting/Civil Engineer Squadron team finds themselves sitting in the driver's seat for the Intramural flag football championship after defeating the 39th Security Forces Squadron 18-6.

"We just go out and do our best," said Chapin Johnston, 39th CONS/CES. "That's all we can do."

The loser's bracket survival game pitted the two teams that thought they would be playing for the base championship, the 39th Logistics Readiness and the 728th Air Mobility Squadron. "AMS is the best," said Greg Butcher, 728th AMS flag football coach before the playoffs started. "Our hardest competition this season, and in the coming playoffs, is ourselves when we scrimmage with each other," said Benjamin Herron, 39th LRS flag football Coach bragged before his team took to the field this post season.

But here they both were in an elimination game with their playoff lives hanging in the balance. But the 39th LRS showed on this night that they still have enough to back up the smack talking as they easily handled the 728th AMS 31-21.

"We just played our best," said Herron.

The LRS victory will set up an epic smack-talking, high energy game Nov. 13 between them and the SFS to see who will battle CON/CES for the Intramural flag-football championship.

"All I have to say is have a Happy Thanksgiving," said Herron.

Even though SFS fell to CON/CES and have their backs against the wall, nothing would be sweeter than to send LRS packing without even sniffing the championship game.

"It's a big game and LRS has a good squad; we just need to let our game talk for us," said Erik Blanco, 39th SFS. "The whole season comes down to this."

With five days between their victory and a shot at the Championship CON/CES is just happy to be there.

"There is all this trash talking, but look at the final outcome," said Chapin. "That's why we play the game."

Tonight's action begins at 6 p.m. at the flag football field inside the track. Who will advance and who will go home?
