Lt Col LIEUTENANT COLONEL DEWITT T. LATIMER IV

Lieutenant Colonel DeWitt Latimer is the commander of the 717th Air Base Squadron located in Ankara, Turkey.  The squadron is responsible for the operation of the Ankara Support Facility which provides support to the United States Embassy, the Office of Defense Cooperation-Turkey, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Center of Excellence-Defense Against Terrorism, Air Force Office of Special Investigations, the George C. Marshall School, and various Department of Defense organizations and activities in the region.

 

Lt Col Latimer was commissioned in the Air Force in February 2003, after completing Officer Training School at Maxwell Air Force Base (AFB), Alabama.  He has served at multiple leadership positions in software and systems engineering for the space and missile defense mission areas.  Prior to his current position, Lt Col Latimer was the Deputy Chief of the Decision Analysis Division at United States Strategic Command, Offutt AFB, Nebraska.

 

In 2014, Lt Col Latimer deployed as a Plans Staff Officer with NATO at the Headquarters of the Kosovo Force, at Camp Film City in Pristina, Kosovo.  Previously, he was deployed as an operations analyst to the Combined Air and Space Operations Center in Southwest Asia.  Before to joining the Air Force, Lt Col Latimer served as a civilian in the Department of Commerce and was a researcher at a private university.
